In the first three quarters of 2025, Southwest China's Guizhou province recorded a regional GDP of 1.74 trillion yuan ($243.6 billion), marking a 4.9-percent year-on-year increase. The province's per capita GDP is expected to surpass 60,000 yuan for the full year. With coordinated efforts to promote thriving industries, strong counties, and prosperous communities, county-level economies now account for 62.2 percent of Guizhou's total economic output.
Key industrial bases are driving rapid growth: deep-processing resource bases and new energy power battery and materials R&D-production bases are expected to see year-on-year output growth of 25.2 percent and 38.8 percent, respectively.
Guizhou's international trade is also expanding. In the first 10 months of 2025, its exports and imports with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative rose 29.4 percent, with Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries up 42.8 percent and other RCEP members up 20.3 percent. Green and innovative industries are powering the province's economy, with exports of electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar panels soaring 204.4 percent year-on-year.
Guided by a modern industrial system, Guizhou is strengthening and expanding its real economy. By utilizing its ecological, mineral, cultural, digital, and human resources, the province is converting comparative advantages into drivers of industrial growth and development. With an expanding market, deeper openness, and enhanced public welfare, Guizhou is moving decisively toward a more dynamic and modernized economy.
