CRRC Guiyang leads digital transformation in rail manufacturing

At the 2025 China Lean Digital Innovation Conference, CRRC Guiyang Co stood out among over 1,000 projects from 400 enterprises nationwide, winning the second prize for its railway freight car manufacturing model innovation project.

As the only rail freight car maintenance base in Southwest China, CRRC Guiyang previously relied on paper documents and manual boards, resulting in slow information flow and limited production foresight. To overcome this, the company developed a smart maintenance system, enabling seamless system connectivity, resource sharing, and data-driven management.

Each rail car now has an electronic ID, allowing real-time tracking of location and status. The system automatically generates optimal production and scheduling plans, reducing daily locomotive operations by 22 cycles and improving efficiency by over 50 percent.

Automation upgrades, including robotic arms combined with 3D scanning and visual imaging, have increased production efficiency by 40 percent. Combined with equipment improvements and optimized workflow, CRRC Guiyang demonstrates a digital and intelligent transformation that is reshaping rail freight manufacturing.
