Kaiyang phosphate project ramps up construction

Around 200 workers remained on-site during the National Day holiday to speed up the completion of Guizhou Julisheng Chemical Co's phosphate project in Shuangliu town, Kaiyang county, Guiyang. At the construction site, trucks shuttled back and forth as machines roared in a symphony of progress.

As a leading phosphate project in the county, it has a total investment of 5.92 billion yuan ($822.88 million) and is being developed in three phases: fine phosphate production, basic phosphate chemicals, and specialty fertilizers.

By the end of 2028, the facility will have an annual capacity of 4.37 million metric tons, generating over 26 billion yuan in revenue and 1.3 billion yuan in tax revenue, while creating more than 4,000 jobs.

Phase I has entered trial production, with about 4,000 tons of products already produced since April. By utilizing advanced deep-processing technology, the plant achieves phosphate purity exceeding 99 percent.

Phase II, currently under preparation, will further enhance product value, increasing returns from 2,000 yuan to 5,000 yuan per ton of phosphate ore.
