Guizhou province's first potassium hydroxide (KOH) production line, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 metric tons, has commenced trial operations in Kaiyang county and is scheduled to begin full production in June.
The project, located in Kaiyang Chemical Industrial Park, is backed by a 750 million yuan ($104.17 million) investment from Guizhou Julisheng Chemical Co (Julisheng).

The project is designed to consume approximately 120,000 tons of potassium chloride and 1.2 million tons of locally sourced phosphate rock annually, producing high-purity KOH that will supply downstream potassium phosphate projects, supporting the development of specialty fertilizers, electronic materials, and related industries.
The KOH line marks the first step in a larger plan. Over the next three years, Julisheng aims to establish a comprehensive phosphorus chemical chain in the industrial park, encompassing 820,000 tons of refined phosphate salts, 1.6 million tons of sulfuric acid, and 600,000 tons of phosphoric acid production capacities, thereby creating a closed-loop system from raw ore to electronic-grade materials.
