The aluminum and aluminum processing industry of Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province is off to a strong start in 2025, recording a 22.1 percent year-on-year increase in total industrial output and a 12.2 percent rise in industrial added value in the first quarter.
The city is rich in bauxite resources, with proven reserves of 531 million metric tons – accounting for 48.1 percent of Guizhou province's total and 11.9 percent of the national figure.
Guiyang's Qingzhen county-level city is home to the country's largest contiguous bauxite mining zone and holds the top spot in the province in terms of resource reserves.
Utilizing this natural advantage, Guiyang has put Qianzhen at the heart of its strategy to develop a clustered aluminum and aluminum processing industrial zone.
Looking ahead, Guiyang plans to build on its bauxite reserves and existing industrial foundation to moderately expand its electrolytic aluminum capacity, boost high-tech and high-value-added processing, and strengthen integration with downstream industries such as new energy vehicles and advanced equipment manufacturing.
