With phosphorus reserves reaching 1.58 billion metric tons, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area are making strategic moves to fully utilize this valuable resource.

The region is shifting from traditional low value-added chemical industries to high value-added sectors such as fine phosphorus chemicals and new energy materials, forming a modern chemical industrial system.

Upstream: Securing raw materials

Guiyang and Gui'an have strategically developed a robust upstream supply chain by advancing key mining enterprises, such as Guizhou Kailin Group and Guizhou Zhengli Mining Co. These ventures ensure a solid foundation for the region's growing industrial ambitions.

Midstream: Enhancing value through refinement

Focusing on areas such as phosphorus-based electronic-grade products, additives, materials, pharmaceuticals, and fertilizers, the region has expanded deep-processing capabilities. Enterprises now refine raw materials like phosphoric acid and yellow phosphorus into high-end products such as purified wet-process phosphoric acid, premium phosphorus fertilizers, and phosphorus-based cathode materials for batteries.

Downstream: Serving high-tech and daily life

Phosphorus-derived products from Guiyang and Gui'an are increasingly used in sectors such as new energy vehicles, electronics manufacturing, agriculture, and daily chemicals, embedding local innovation into a wide array of global markets.

Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Guiyang has made the phosphorus chemical industry a top development priority.

By encouraging companies to climb the value chain through high-end and precision manufacturing, the city has upgraded its industrial capabilities. Central to this transformation are the Kaiyang Modern Chemical Industrial Park and the Xifeng Phosphorus-Coal Chemical Eco-Industrial Base. Currently, Guiyang and Gui'an are home to 54 phosphorus chemical enterprises.
