The installation of the final electricity meter in Yunyan Industrial Park, Guiyang city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on March 27 marked the completion of Guizhou's first "transfer-to-direct" power supply pilot project in an industrial park.
The "transfer-to-direct" reform shifts the traditional "centralized billing by an industrial park and supply to end users" model to an innovative model where power supply companies deliver electricity directly to end users. This initiative brings significant benefits to all stakeholders.
Direct transactions with power suppliers eliminate intermediaries for enterprises, significantly lowering electricity costs. For the industrial park, the project involved installing 81 meters, laying 1,700 meters of cable, and upgrading 21 high-voltage distribution cabinets, ensuring professional power infrastructure maintenance. Meanwhile, power companies benefit from streamlined service processes and enhanced supply reliability.
According to estimates, the project will substantially reduce electricity costs for over 60 enterprises within the park, with costs decreasing by more than 30 percent. The park's annual electricity consumption is also expected to increase by 42 percent.
As a key component of the Guizhou Yunyan Economic Development Zone, Yunyan Industrial Park is crucial in accommodating industrial transfers from coastal areas and promoting new industrialization.
The implementation of this project provides a replicable and scalable model for power supply reforms in industrial parks across the province. It further optimizes the local business environment and supports the region's high-quality economic development.
