In recent years, Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has expanded its new energy vehicle (NEV) industry and built a comprehensive supply chain. The district now houses 30 auto parts companies, which produce components such as batteries, stamping parts, and seats.
In 2024, the automobile and supporting industries in Guanshanhu generated over 16 billion yuan ($2.20 billion), accounting for 59 percent of the output of industries above a designated size.
A new NEV rolls off the assembly line every 120 seconds at the Geely Guiyang Manufacturing Base. In 2024, the base produced over 100,000 vehicles and became Guizhou's first private manufacturing enterprise to surpass 10 billion yuan in revenue.
As one of Geely's core suppliers in Southwest China, Guiyang Ditong Auto Parts Co is pioneering flexible manufacturing.
"With our modular design platform, we can seamlessly switch from sedan to SUV production by simply changing molds, adjusting robotic programming, and modifying assembly processes,” said Xiao Tao, deputy general manager of Guiyang Ditong Auto Parts Co. "This allows us to quickly adapt to market demand, efficiently producing both traditional fuel vehicles and NEVs."
