Guiyang and Gui'an galvanize growth with industrial strategy

Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area are widely said to have made great strides in advancing their joint "Industrial Strong City" strategy, focusing on strengthening industrial growth as the primary engine of their economy.

In line with the provincial government's goal of developing 3,533 industrial clusters, the region has prioritized industrialization through targeted investments and strategic planning.

Industrial output is projected to have topped 430 billion yuan ($58.91 billion) in 2024, with Guiyang's industrial added value expected to grow by 10 percent, positioning it among the leading provincial cities.

Gui'an, a national-level new area, anticipates a staggering a 40 percent increase in industrial growth, consolidating its status as a key economic hub.

The strategy focuses on key industries such as electronics, equipment manufacturing, the phosphates and chemicals industries, as well as  health pharmaceuticals. Notably, companies like Hisense and Geely have seen rapid growth, significantly contributing to the local economy.

The region is also fostering small and medium-sized enterprises by creating robust industrial ecosystems and strengthening supply chain linkages.

Guiyang and Gui'an are enhancing their infrastructure – offering land and housing guarantees and facilitating talent acquisition and funding to support industrial development.

These initiatives are expected to ensure the region's economic vitality remains strong – positioning Guiyang and Gui'an at the forefront of high-quality economic growth in West China.
