Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is accelerating its industrial transformation through green innovation. It blends cutting-edge technology with sustainable practices to drive economic growth.
The circular economy model at Guizhou Jingmai Industrial Park integrates recycling, dismantling, and reusing materials from discarded appliances. The park is on track to process 1.5 million old appliances this year, supporting greener consumption trends.
Leading the charge is Xinshuguang Cable Co, a national "Green Factory" exemplifying low-carbon manufacturing. The company incorporates energy-efficient practices from facility design to production. Innovations like waste heat recovery and water recycling systems significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions. With cutting-edge smart manufacturing systems and 44 proprietary patents, the company generates over 5 billion yuan ($691 million) annually while maintaining a carbon footprint far below industry averages.
Guizhou province is also utilizing its natural advantages to expand renewable energy production. A "water-solar hybrid" power plant in Bijie city stabilizes energy outputs while addressing fluctuations common to renewable energy sources. This project exemplifies the province's growing green energy capacity, with Bijie's renewable energy output alone reaching 6.8 million kilowatts.
With strategic investments in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing, Guizhou is reshaping its industrial landscape, achieving high-quality growth while prioritizing sustainability. In 2023, the province's new energy battery and material industries achieved an output value of 69.5 billion yuan, cementing Guizhou's status as a green development leader.
