The industrial added value above a designated size in Guiyang and Guian New Area of Southwest China's Guizhou province grew 4.4 percent in 2022, ranking second in the province.
Last year, Guiyang and Guian's industrial added value contributed to 29.3 percent of the GDP, the most among the province's 10 main industries.

To build a modern industrial system, Guiyang has made efforts to formulate forward-looking, scientific and operable industrial plans, and optimize the distribution of productive forces.
Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ), for example, is striving to construct an industry circle and accelerate the completion of an industrial cluster for aero-engine equipment manufacturing.
As of 2021, the cluster had 63 enterprises and nine "little giant" firms with a total output of 18.46 billion yuan ($2.69 billion).
Guiyang and Guian have leveraged the development of new energy battery and material industries, which have soared in recent years.
In 2022, the output value of the industries grew 166.5 percent, and it is expected to exceed 40 billion yuan this year. Additionally, the output value of the new energy vehicle industry has hit 10 billion yuan for the first time, becoming the first 10-billion yuan-level industry in Guiyang and Guian.

What's more, Guiyang and Guian have advanced the construction of key projects to strengthen the real economy and optimize their business environment to attract business and investment. In 2022, they ranked first in the province's industry investment growth, with a total investment of 64.96 billion yuan, up 50 percent year-on-year.
