Southwest China's Guizhou province has promoted industrial transformation and upgrading, improved quality and efficiency, and made efforts related to green efficiency, energy consumption, resource utilization, energy conservation and emissions reduction.

In 2021, the added value of industries above designated size in the province increased by 12.9 percent year-on-year, while the energy consumption per unit of added value of industrial enterprises above designated size decreased by 7.4 percent year-on-year.

This indicates that lower energy consumption now supports higher industrial economic growth.

Guizhou has a strong traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry and is one of four main TCM production centers in the country.

As a provincial-level green factory, Guizhou Tongde Pharmaceutical Co has adopted self-developed and patented moisturizing pharmaceuticals for medicinal material moistening, saving about 1,300 metric tons of water every year.

The original evaporative atmospheric emissions have also been changed to condensed water emissions, resulting in near-zero atmospheric emissions.

As of 2021, Guizhou was home to 42 national-level green factories, nine green industrial parks, one green supply chain, and six types of green design products.
