Southwest China's Guizhou province is currently improving its science and technology innovation capabilities, increasing the quality and upgrading of traditional industries, and accelerating the development of a modern manufacturing system led by the digital economy.
In 2021, the added value of the province's manufacturing industry was estimated to account for 20 percent of its GDP, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 percentage points.
Upgrading, optimizing industrial system
Focusing on research and development, one bright example of the progress being made – Guizhou Guicai Innovation Technology Co – is said to have improved its product variety and service life through big data modeling.

To date, mid-to-high-end aluminum products account for more than 50 percent of the company's production and sales. Plans are for it to increase the proportion of premium grade products from the current 35 percent to 60 percent.
Improving autonomy, control
Another company, Guizhou Pix Moving Smart Technology Co, in 2019 printed the world's first integrated car chassis.
Now, the PIX autonomous driving urban robot platform – based on its own R&D – is said to be able to meet various application needs for autonomous mobility and be used in unmanned retail vehicles, unmanned logistics vehicles and unmanned security patrols, among other things.
Elsewhere, plans are for Chery Wanda Guizhou Bus Manufacturing Co to launch a 12-meter-long driverless bus in June.

Digital transformation
Since Guizhou Shuanhui Big Data Industry Development Co started construction of an industrial internet infrastructure project two years ago in the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, it has completed the industrial internet construction of more than 130 enterprises.
Elsewhere, Guizhou CASIC Cloud-Tech Co is meeting the digital needs of industrial enterprises in Guizhou and adopting information technology to apply data to every link of the manufacturing process, realizing personalized and customized production and services.
Overall, through technological transformation and the new generation of information technology in the province, it is believed that traditional industries can be upgraded to advanced manufacturing industries, becoming a supporting force for the high-quality development of Guizhou's manufacturing industry.
