The second production line for the new aluminum processing plant being operated by Guizhou Chalco Aluminum Co started up on March 1 in the Wangzhuang Aluminum Processing Park – located in the Qingzhen Economic Development Zone in Qingzhen, a county-level city in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
It is expected that the new facility will further bolster the development of Guiyang's aluminum and aluminum processing sector.
Chalco Aluminum's processing plant is being completed in two phases – the first phase involving the relocation of casting and rolling operations, costing 225.4 million yuan ($33.64 million).
The project started construction on Nov 26, 2020 and on Aug 28, 2021, the first production line started operating.
The output from the new second production line is mainly going to downstream manufacturers producing medicinal foil, kitchen foil, wine foil and air-conditioning foil, among others.
The monthly production capacity of the second production line is about 2,200 metric tons. It is anticipated that its output will resolve current bottlenecks in meeting large orders and top up currently insufficient production capacity.
