Guiyang's phosphogypsum utilization capacity increases

The utilization capacity of phosphogypsum in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been significantly increased, according to the news conference held on March 1.

The city achieved a balance between the production and consumption of phosphogypsum in both 2020 and 2021.

At the conference, Qiu Jun, deputy director of the Guiyang bureau of industry and information technology, said that in recent years Guiyang has been promoting the comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum resources and the production of phosphogypsum has been effectively controlled.

Guiyang has also established a leading group for the comprehensive utilization and promotion and application of phosphogypsum and has issued policies to coordinate the promotion of phosphogypsum "production based on slag".

Since 2019, a total of 45.23 million yuan ($7.15 million) in special funds has been allocated to support the transformation and upgrading of phosphorus chemical enterprises and the comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum resources, and to reward the promotion and application of the comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum resources.
