In 2021, the per-unit energy consumption of the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated size – those with annual output value of 20 million yuan ($3.17 million) or more – in Southwest China's Guizhou province decreased by 7.4 percent year-on-year, while the added value of those enterprises increased by 12.9 percent year-on-year.
This shows that industrial enterprises in the province were realizing higher industrial economic growth with lower energy consumption.
Guizhou has long worked toward ecological industrialization. In 2021, the province made its food industry more eco-friendly.
The first batch of high-growth enterprises involved in the deep processing of agricultural products saw major improvements in output value, production capacity, production and sales in 2021.
In addition, Guizhou standardized the construction of chemical parks and prevented the blind development of high-energy-consuming and highly-polluting projects.
The total output of strategic emerging industries in the province accounted for 12 percent of that of industrial enterprises above a designated size.
Furthermore, Guizhou has strengthened the three major utilization methods of phosphogypsum building materials, filling and acid production.
In 2021, 13.27 million metric tons of phosphogypsum were used and disposed of by the province, maintaining the production and consumption balance of phosphogypsum.
