The Guizhou Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology recently began enacting plans for industry energy conservation in Southwest China's Guizhou province, earmarked to be carried out during the course of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

Projections are by 2025, green industrial parks will account for more than 50 percent of the province's industrial parks and that more than 200 green factories will have been established.

Under the blueprints, by 2025 industrial energy conservation goals will be completed in the province, with markedly improved levels of performance. Energy consumption per unit of added value for industrial enterprises above a designated size – those with an annual output of more than 20 million ($3.1 million) – will by then be on a steady decline.

In addition, the capabilities to innovate energy conservation technology will be significantly enhanced, while the energy conservation and environmental protection industry will continue to grow.

The plans clarify key energy-saving directions and mainly focus on the promotion of related work in 10 major industries in the province – among them, the energy, materials and chemicals engineering sectors.

The blueprints put forward eight main tasks for industry energy conservation, including advancing energy-saving technology innovation and applications, improving energy management, promoting  low-carbon development, building an eco-friendly manufacturing system, expanding green clusters in development zones, improving the levels of clean production and promoting the comprehensive utilization of renewable resources.
