During the May Day holiday on May 1-5, 13 enterprises above a designated size in Guiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) continued production.
A total of 8,961 employees stayed on duty to work overtime, leading to an estimated output of 125.3 million yuan ($19.5 million).
This has brought the zone close to achieving its output value target for the second quarter of 2021 and will help to ensure economic health throughout the year.
"Over the break, 300 employees gave up their holidays, and contributed to an output value of 15 million yuan," said Liu Zhanfei, investment director of Guizhou Zhongsheng Taike Intelligent Technology Co.
Guizhou Zhongsheng Taike Intelligent Technology Co set up operations in Guiyang HIDZ in November 2018. The company's sophisticated electronic information products such as LED chips and semiconductors are popular, and the company has signed contracts with well-known companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Siemens, and Philips.
Guizhou Yaguang Electronic Technology Co is another Guiyang HIDZ-based company that did not halt production over the break. A total of 175 employees worked during the holiday.
Guizhou Yaguang Electronic Technology Co is a national high-tech enterprise focusing on the development of automobiles. It is the supplier of French Valeo, the world's top automobile generator manufacturer, and Jinzhou Halla, the second largest automobile generator manufacturer in China.
